Job Description

The Senior Project Manager - Logistics and Planning Lead plays a critical role in the delivery of a major Defence infrastructure programme by overseeing strategic planning and execution of logistics operations across secure and sensitive construction sites. The role requires close coordination with MOD stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams to ensure compliance with Defence protocols and secure, on-time project delivery.

Main Purpose of Role

The primary purpose is to ensure secure, efficient, and coordinated logistics and planning activities across a large-scale Defence programme. This includes:

  • Managing material, equipment, and personnel movements.
  • Developing integrated construction schedules aligned with programme milestones.
  • Ensuring compliance with Defence regulations and security guidelines.
  • Mitigating risks and resolving logistical challenges.

Scope and Key Accountabilities

This role acts as the central interface among project teams, contractors, suppliers, and MOD stakeholders, ensuring that logistics and planning activities support project objectives. Key accountabilities include:

  • Developing and implementing secure logistics strategies for Defence sites.
  • Coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors to meet MOD standards.
  • Managing on-site logistics including vehicle movements and storage zones.
  • Liaising with MOD, DIO, and other Defence stakeholders.
  • Supporting procurement teams and preparing project progress reports.
  • Leading client and stakeholder interfaces throughout project stages.

Qualifications

A relevant degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Logistics or related field. Experience within MOD or Defence environments is essential, and candidates must hold MOD SC clearance and be UK Nationals. Additional professional qualifications such as ICE, APM, RICS are preferred.
