Service Writer at Service Writer
TruckPro is seeking a Service Writer who will initiate medium and heavy-duty truck and trailer services and repairs. The role involves determining performance problems and services requested, verifying warranty and service contract coverage, developing estimates, writing repair orders, and maintaining customer records. The Service Writer also assists the Service Manager with daily operations including physical inventories, maintaining inventory levels, and reporting.

Service Writer Responsibilities
- Determine problems based on customer descriptions and inspections.
- Discuss repairs and document findings with mechanics.
- Verify warranty and service contract coverage.
- Obtain authorizations and produce repair estimates.
- Prepare repair orders detailing symptoms, problems, and causes.
- Maintain customer rapport while explaining estimates and timelines.
- Keep accurate records of problems and planned corrective actions.
- Procure parts for mechanics and assist with equipment maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
- 2-5 years experience as a Service Writer or Lead Mechanic.
- Knowledge of medium/heavy-duty diesel trucks & trailers.
- Understanding of service operations in the heavy-duty truck industry.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Mechanical inclination and interest in the heavy-duty industry.
- Proven problem-solving skills and organizational ability.
- Proficient in MS Office, with basic Excel skills.
Physical Requirements
- Active work involving lifting heavy truck parts (50+ lbs).
- Requires walking, bending, twisting, stepping, and pushing throughout the day.
Work Environment
- Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures.
