About Staff Data Engineer/Data Architect

Role Overview

As a Staff Data Engineer/Data Architect on our Data and Cloud Engineering team, you will design, build, and implement robust, scalable, and secure cloud-based data pipelines and architectures primarily using AWS with future migration to MS Azure. You will ensure code quality and adhere to best practices while guiding technical teams and collaborating with cross-functional groups.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of cloud-based data pipelines and architectures.
  • Ensure best practices in code quality, architecture, and security.
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.
  • Collaborate with teams to meet data needs and implement data governance.
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize cloud resources for cost and performance.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and integrate AI tools to boost efficiency.

  • Infrastructure: Glue, Lambda, Step Function, Batch, ECS, Quicksight, Sagemaker, Dagster
  • DevOps: CloudFormation, Terraform, Git, CodeBuild
  • Database: Redshift, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Athena (Trino), Snowflake, Databricks
  • Language: Bash, Python (PySpark, Pydantic, PyArrow), SQL

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a Data Engineer with focus on data architecture design.
  • Extensive experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms and their data services.
  • Proficiency in ETL processes, data warehousing, and big data technologies.
  • Skilled in SQL, Python, and infrastructure as code tools.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Openness to leverage AI (Cursor) as a daily efficiency tool.

Job Location & Work Arrangement

This is a remote role for candidates based in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Portugal, Spain, Italy, or Croatia. Local employment contracts apply.
