Job Summary
As a Data Analyst, you will be part of a team working to discover and solve problems with varying complexity, uncover insights, and make data-driven recommendations to support critical business decisions. You will work with stakeholders to build tools and analysis that elevate the customer experience. Through data conceptualization, modeling, and presentation, you will help the department answer questions and solve problems. You will empower users to use data in their decision-making processes through education, innovative dashboards, and relevant data representation.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This position is the first in a series of two Systems Analyst classifications within the Information Technology job family. It provides assistance to business users in the effective use of complex applications and IT, analyzes and tests procedures, and develops alternative workflow solutions. Flexible work schedule may be required.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Participate in cross-team analysis activities.
- Integrate data from multiple sources for analysis and quality.
- Perform data exploration, modeling, and statistical analysis.
- Design and create reports and dashboards for leadership.
- Assist with system modifications, installations, and troubleshooting.
- Support application testing and develop test plans.
- Manage third party consultant relationships for application development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with two (2) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses, Certifications and Preferred Skills
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, Power BI, and Excel (preferred two years).
- Experience with SAS and/or Python (preferred one year).
- Familiarity with Data Governance and report creation for leadership.
- Work experience in the Juvenile or Criminal Justice field is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understanding of policies, laws, and terminology; technical problem-solving; scheduling, testing, implementing systems; analytical reporting; user training; and effective communication both verbally and in writing.
Work Environment & Other Information
Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 35-40 pounds and endure varying conditions. Travis County employees may be assigned additional business continuity efforts.
Work Hours: Varying schedule including some weekends.
Location: 2515 S. Congress Avenue, Department: Juvenile Probation. Background checks and drug/alcohol tests are required.
