Overview of the Project/Role
The Project Controls Assistant is a pivotal support role within the Programme Management Office (PMO) at Transport for London. The role contributes to the effective delivery of complex, high-value projects through structured, data-driven project control services. It works at the intersection of planning, governance, and digital enablement to ensure programme data is accurate, timely, and actionable.
Key Accountabilities
- Programme Planning & Controls: Support programme schedules, cost models, and resource forecasts.
- Reporting, Governance & BI Development: Develop dashboards, KPIs, and performance analytics using BI tools.
- Financial & Resource Analysis: Assist in analysing programme budgets, cost performance, and resource utilisation.
- Information & Records Management: Maintain programme documentation, records, and data repositories.
- SharePoint Development & Collaboration Tools: Manage SharePoint sites for document control and collaboration.
- Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify and report programme risks and opportunities.
- Project Controls Support: Provide ad-hoc support across project controls functions.
- Culture, Safety & Sustainability: Champion a positive safety culture and support equality and inclusion initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
The candidate should possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills with strong experience in project controls methodologies, data visualisation (using Power BI and Excel), and maintaining SharePoint sites. Familiarity with project planning software like Primavera P6 or MS Project is essential, alongside an understanding of capital projects and programme management methodologies.
