Role Overview: Account Manager, Retirement

The Account Manager, Retirement provides outstanding customer service and daily retirement plan administration, responding to inquiries, researching issues, and providing resolutions. This role involves utilizing excellent client service skills, partnering with Client Executives and internal teams to enhance customer relationships and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for daily administration of retirement plans under minimal supervision.
  • Identify customer expectations and cultivate strong working relationships.
  • Coordinate with management to research issues and negotiate problem resolution.
  • Develop and maintain proactive, positive relationships with clients, financial professionals, and internal service teams to ensure client retention and growth.
  • Deliver prompt, accurate, and consistent information, meeting or exceeding quality metrics.
  • Recognize and communicate potential improvements to management.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to address client needs, develop action plans, and consult on products/services for client retention and complex issue resolution.
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of recordkeeping, outsourcing, and processing capabilities.
  • Attend training to gain functional retirement plan knowledge, including various plan designs and specific requirements.
  • Gather data from multiple systems to interpret, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with limited management assistance.
  • Lead effective and strategic client meetings, either face-to-face or via conference call.
  • Assist in mentoring new account managers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field or equivalent education/experience.
  • Three years of customer relationship experience, including one year in the retirement or financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of daily administration of retirement plans.
  • Excellent relationship management and professional communication skills (oral and written).
  • Effective presentation, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to align with Transamerica’s Future Fit Culture: Acting as One, Accountability, Agility, and Customer Centricity.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a book of business supporting retirement plan sponsors, advisors, or third-party administrator partners.
  • Experience with retirement pooled plans.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.

Working Conditions

This is a remote position.

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated salary for this position generally ranges between $50,000-$65,000, with eligibility for an Annual Bonus based on company plan and individual performance. Transamerica offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a pension plan, 401k match, employee stock purchase plan, tuition reimbursement, medical/dental/vision insurance, paid time off (starting at 160 hours annually), 10 paid holidays, parental leave, and various wellness and employee assistance programs.
