About the Interpreter - Cantonese Role
This role is for an Interpreter - Cantonese at TP, a Translation and Interpretation Services Company. The position is 100% work from home, based in Malaysia.
Job Scope & Responsibilities
The interpreter will perform consecutive interpretation in live conversations such as Doctor & Patient, Banker & Client, and more. The tasks include handling telephone or video calls on demand and rendering the meaning of conversations between speakers of English and Cantonese. The interpreter is expected to process information quickly, recognize sensitive cultural differences, and remain professional throughout the interaction.
- Provide language interpretation for individuals with language barriers.
- Handle calls involving healthcare, finance, government, and more.
- Use appropriate industry terminology and follow client instructions closely.
- Explain cultural concepts when required to avoid miscommunication.
Working Hours & Salary
The job is primarily a night shift role with shifts starting at various hours (from 7pm to 3am) ensuring an 8-hour online shift per day and a minimum of 40 online hours per week. Salary is based on a basic package ranging from RM5500 to RM7000.
Qualifications
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Ability to concentrate, remain neutral, and quickly establish personal credibility.
- Capacity to follow client instructions and explain cultural nuances.
- Bilingual in English and Cantonese with a B2 CEFR English Level.
- Permanent work from home capability.
