Job Description

About Torc Robotics

At Torc, we have always believed that autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business. A leader in autonomous driving since 2007, Torc has spent over a decade commercializing our solutions with experienced partners. Now a part of the Daimler family, we are focused solely on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight. Join us and catapult your career with the company that helped pioneer autonomous technology, and the first AV software company with the vision to partner directly with a truck manufacturer.

Meet the Team

The Government Relations Manager serves as a frontline representative for our autonomous trucking operations in state and local communities. In this role, you will be responsible for building trust, raising awareness, and fostering meaningful relationships with government agencies, universities, community organizations, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator who can translate complex technology topics into accessible conversations and is comfortable representing the company in public forums.

This role also interfaces closely with our broader First Responder Program Manager and Marketing and Communications team to ensure consistent messaging and standardized outreach materials across all engagements and provides ongoing support to the Senior Director of State Government & Regulatory Affairs in coordinating strategic engagement activities.

What You'll Do as a Government Relations Manager

  • Represent Torc Robotics at community events, town halls, business association meetings, chamber of commerce gatherings, and local conferences.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with state and local community leaders, workforce development organizations, first responders, academic institutions, and non-profit groups.
  • Coordinate informational sessions, facility tours, technology demos, and educational programs to increase community awareness and understanding of autonomous trucking.
  • Attend meetings with state and local government officials, transportation agencies, public safety departments, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Conduct policy research to support development of policy briefs, memos, and summaries.
  • Support legislative tracking activities, monitoring, and analysis.
  • Manage a calendar of outreach activities and proactively identify partnership opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally with policy, operations, communications, and safety teams to ensure alignment across outreach initiatives.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Affairs, Political Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7+ years of experience in legislative affairs, government relations, community engagement, or public affairs.
  • Strong public-speaking and interpersonal communication skills; comfortable engaging diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with elected officials, state and local government agencies preferred.
  • Community-minded, approachable, and skilled at building trust.
  • Clear, confident communicator with strong listening and message-framing abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-evolving environment with multiple priorities.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to independently drive outreach initiatives.
  • Passionate about advancing safe, innovative transportation solutions.
