What You’ll Do
- Own the company’s data strategy and roadmap aligned with business priorities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers.
- Build and evolve the data platform including ingestion pipelines, data models, and analytics foundations.
- Define canonical data models, metrics, and shared business definitions.
- Establish standards for data quality, reliability, and monitoring.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to embed data into workflows.
- Enable analytics and reporting for stakeholders.
- Define governance practices for data access, usage, and consistency.
- Identify and mitigate data-related risk as complexity increases.
How This Role Drives the Business
In the role of Director of Data, you will lead the strategy and evolution of TopDog Law’s data platform. You will build reliable, well-governed data infrastructure that supports analytics, reporting, and decision-making across the organization including marketing, intake, operations, and legal. Your leadership will drive quality, clarity, and consistency in data usage across teams.

Qualifications
Required: 8+ years in data engineering, analytics, or data platform roles; experience leading and developing teams; strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics systems; ability to define metrics in partnership with stakeholders; balance of hands-on technical work with leadership. Experience in regulated or data-sensitive environments is a plus.
Nice To Have: Experience in fast-growing or high-volume environments, comfort with ambiguity, and exposure to legal, professional services or client-centric organizations.

The Pay Range
This role offers a salary between 175,000 and 205,000 USD per year.
