Job Description

Are you an experienced optometrist passionate about clinical research and ophthalmic innovation? Join our Clinical Affairs team at Topcon Europe Medical B.V. and contribute to the development of cutting-edge medical devices while working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, execute, and monitor clinical studies for product validation.
  • Serve as Principal or Sub-Investigator adhering to GCP, FDA, ISO, IRB, and MHRA standards.
  • Present clinical findings to internal teams, sponsors, and scientific communities.
  • Perform comprehensive eye exams and advanced imaging (OCT, fundus photography, biometry, visual fields).
  • Recruit, screen, and monitor study participants ensuring safety and protocol compliance.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, and Product teams on clinical insights.
  • Train staff and investigators on devices and protocol execution.
  • Oversee daily clinical research site operations including staffing and procurement.
  • Support budgeting, resource allocation, and vendor/sponsor contract execution.
  • Assist in identifying funding opportunities and support grant applications.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited institution.
  • Active UK license (or eligibility), with California licensure experience as a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in optometry with clinical and research roles.
  • Prior experience as a Principal or Sub-Investigator in clinical trials.
  • Advanced knowledge of diagnostic equipment and ophthalmic imaging modalities.
  • Strong understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and international regulatory standards.
  • Effective project management, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% within the UK.
