Overview

Toole Design Group in Silver Spring, MD is seeking an experienced and talented full-time Civil Engineering Group Manager to lead a team of inspired engineers. You will oversee roadway reconstruction, trail design, and multimodal projects, delivering work that improves safety and the public realm across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Role and Responsibilities

This role involves managing projects from concept through final design, ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget. You will:

• Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers.
• Manage project pursuits, proposals, and business development.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including planners, landscape architects, and urban designers.
• Engage in creative problem solving for complex roadway and multimodal projects.
• Ensure high quality deliverables and manage client relationships.

Work Environment and Benefits

A Day in the Life

As the Civil Engineering Group Manager, you will collaborate directly with the Regional Design Director, manage project pursuits from kick-off to construction, and actively participate in strategic planning. You will also be responsible for team hiring, mentoring, and quality control activities.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Professional Engineering license (MD preferred), a bachelor’s or master’s in civil engineering, and extensive experience (10+ years) in engineering with 5+ years in project management. Experience in roadway design, CADD proficiency, and a strong desire to mentor and lead are essential.
