About the role

Engineering Manager Quality Assurance

TomTom is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for Quality Assurance to lead and mentor a QA engineering team of approximately 10 individuals. This role is responsible for managing performance, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will own the QA strategy and processes across multiple product teams, establishing standards and best practices to ensure the high quality and reliability of critical software products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a QA engineering team, managing performance and fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the QA strategy and processes across multiple product teams, establishing standards and best practices.
  • Oversee test planning and automation, directing the creation and execution of comprehensive test plans, test cases, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Solve complex quality challenges by implementing innovative testing solutions and driving ongoing process improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with development, product management, and other teams to integrate QA into the software development lifecycle.
  • Monitor quality metrics and testing outcomes, providing clear visibility into product quality, risks, and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in software quality assurance or test engineering.
  • At least 2 years in a leadership role managing QA engineers.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing processes, and industry best practices.
  • Hands-on experience building and using automated testing frameworks and tools.
  • Familiarity with non-functional testing (performance, security, etc.).
  • Proven ability to tackle complex quality issues and drive process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
