About the Role

The Site Reliability Engineer, Process Automation role at Toast is part of the Site Reliability Engineering team responsible for Incident and Change Management processes. This role focuses on providing automation for incident and change management to improve release consistency and enable faster incident responses.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize existing processes and implement automated solutions.
  • Utilize and support tools like JIRA, FireHydrant, and Backstage.
  • Maintain and enhance Incident and Change management procedures.
  • Enable low-risk, compliant releases with rapid rollback capabilities.
  • Implement automation for risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with leadership, 3rd party vendors, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of engineering experience focused on SRE.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of complex cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Experience scripting automation (Python, Go) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Experience with Incident Response and Incident/Change management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with strategic problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, ITSM, Agile/scrum, and change management frameworks is a plus.
