About the role
Senior Software Engineer - Government Cloud
Tines is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team responsible for bringing our intelligent workflow platform to federal customers in AWS GovCloud. You will build and enhance product features and tooling to ensure seamless operation within a compliance-regulated environment, providing federal customers with a powerful experience that meets unique government security and operational requirements.
This role offers an influential voice in shaping our technical direction, product, and culture. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative engineering team dedicated to solving complex challenges and fostering individual growth.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design, build, and harden product features in a compliance-regulated cloud environment with a focus on security, data privacy, and auditability.
- Develop features specific to AWS GovCloud users, including authentication, audit, and compliance capabilities.
- Create abstractions to simplify feature authoring and testing in the government cloud for engineers without direct access.
- Enhance observability, logging, and deployment processes for seamless cross-environment functionality.
- Analyze application security gaps and implement necessary adaptations to meet government standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align timelines and develop solutions meeting security controls.
- Mentor other engineers on secure design patterns and building for regulated environments.
- Support self-hosted federal customers in our CMMC environment, including handling escalations and on-call responsibilities.

- Approximately 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record as a senior engineer.
- Experience building and delivering software using a high-level programming language; hands-on coding is part of the interview process.
- Experience in compliance-regulated or security-sensitive environments (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA, SOC 2, HIPAA) is a strong plus.
- Comfortable reasoning about application-layer security, including encryption, access control, audit logging, and data retention for government deployments.
- Foundational skills and knowledge are valued over formal education or specific work history. Curiosity and eagerness to learn are encouraged; education material costs will be covered.
- Broad role experience across the stack is expected, with a willingness to contribute where needed, supported by teammates.
