Overview
Timmons Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer II - Renewable Energy to join our Renewable Energy Department in Charlotte, NC. This role supports power generation and renewable energy projects including solar farms and battery storage projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers on power generation and renewable energy projects.
- Assist in design upgrades for power plants and switchyard electrical systems.
- Develop electrical engineering designs under supervision.
- Provide input to senior engineering staff on design issues.
- Participate in engineering proposals, time schedule and cost estimation.
- Contribute to budget development and engineering services proposals.
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Six (6) years or more of professional electrical experience.
- At least five (5) years of relay coordination and schematic design experience.
- Experience in detailed design engineering for generating facilities or substations preferred.
- Engineer in Training Certification or Professional Engineer registration is strongly preferred.
- Experience leading a group of engineers is a plus.
- Proficiency with ETAP or SKM software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
