Electrical Senior Engineer - Substation
Timmons Group is seeking an Electrical Senior Engineer - Substation for our Electrical Design Group located in our Charlotte, NC office. This role focuses on assembling and reviewing comprehensive engineering design packages for renewable energy projects including solar, wind, and battery storage systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prioritize engineering tasks to ensure quality, safety and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in client meetings and job site visits for design data exchange.
- Perform calculations and review preliminary designs for generation, collection, substation, and transmission.
- Lead and mentor less-experienced team members.
- Support contract development, manage scopes of work, oversee change orders, and assist with project closeouts.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
- Leverage industry relationships to grow renewable energy client base.
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience focused on substation design.
- Proficiency in electrical design and analysis software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior consulting experience is preferred.
