Job Summary

As an Intermediate Software Developer at Universe, you will apply your passion for technology and live entertainment to build a world-class, highly scalable Event Ticketing platform. This deeply technical position involves working closely with a team to build reliable and scalable solutions to tough technical challenges. You will be tasked with understanding customers with strong empathy, curating a fantastic product experience, and championing the vision to new heights.

Universe is undergoing a metamorphosis, upgrading legacy systems and APIs written in Ruby on Rails with more scalable, performant replacements powered by Node, NextJS, and TypeScript. You'll work with various tools and languages including TypeScript, JavaScript, and Ruby, using frameworks like NextJS, Node, Kafka, Postgres, gRPC, Mongo, Grafana, GraphQL, and Rails on container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. Continuous deployment and frequent releases are key to providing customers a fast and efficient experience.

Operating as an independent entity within the larger Ticketmaster/Live Nation family, Universe maintains a startup culture of small teams solving big problems. What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop end-to-end features across the full stack, from user-facing interfaces and components to back-end services and data models.
  • Drive quality and performance across the organization, including leading best practice adoption through advocacy for observability and performance testing.
  • Support the maintenance of legacy systems while investing in future-centric architecture.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders like Product Managers and UX Designers to scope requirements and deliver solutions.

What You Need to Know (or Technical Skills)

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience working as an Intermediate Software Developer.
  • Experience with full-stack programming languages and tools to hit the ground running.
  • Strong communication skills, working closely with people from various domains and timezones.
  • Independence and initiative to take ownership of solving problems.
  • Growth mindset for yourself and your teammates during feedback, pairing, and code reviews.
  • Experience with any of the following technologies is a bonus: TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, NextJS, Node, Kafka, Grafana, GraphQL, Mongo, Postgres, Elastic, Redis, Kubernetes, Docker.
