Overview

The Head of Government Relations & Public Policy at TIAA leads the organization0 strategic government relations function across international, federal, and state levels. This role shapes policy outcomes, builds key governmental relationships, and positions TIAA effectively within the regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive government relations strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Prepare and manage the government relations department budget.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with officials, agencies, and industry associations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and devise proactive response strategies.
  • Lead advocacy efforts by preparing position papers, testimony, and related materials.
  • Oversee political action committee activities and ensure compliance with campaign finance regulations.
  • Manage and mentor state, federal, and international government relations team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align government relations with broader priorities.
  • Serve as a spokesperson at legislative hearings, regulatory proceedings, and industry events.
  • Ensure compliance with lobbying disclosure requirements and other regulations.

Educational & Experience Requirements

A bachelor7s degree in political science, public policy, government relations, communications, or related field is required; a master7s degree is a plus. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with in-depth knowledge of the political and legislative process.
