About The Design Team

We’re a tight-knit, collaborative, and highly iterative group of designers, including product design, content design and user research. You’ll work closely with designers and product managers to launch and evolve product features. You’ll partner with user research to gain insights from user feedback. You’ll work closely with product marketing to craft and deliver communications through the right channels at the best times. You’ll also sync regularly with other writers at Thumbtack to maintain a cohesive voice across all communications.

About The Role

This Content Designer role sits on the New Deal for Pros pod within the New Hiring Experiences pillar, focusing on product features and experiences for service professionals on our platform. We’re seeking a seasoned Content Designer with a portfolio showcasing business-centric product work. You are a systems thinker, adept at solving complex problems at scale and influencing stakeholders. You thrive in 0-1 spaces, embrace bold initiatives, and have experience with generative AI, prompt engineering, and refining, or a strong desire to explore these areas.

You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complicated UI/UX on mobile and web. As a Content Designer, you will create clear, consistent messaging while advocating for user needs. You will drive product positioning and communication strategy with design, product, and marketing partners, crafting delightful, intuitive product experiences leveraging your UX design and content strategy expertise.

What You'll Do

• Design, write, edit, test, and improve content across multiple touchpoints: product flows, navigation, naming, emails, tutorials, and notifications.
• Collaborate on cross-functional teams with designers, data analysts, researchers, engineers, product managers, and marketing.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and influence product decisions, team direction, and strategy.
• Give and solicit feedback from UX design peers; contribute through mentoring or onboarding.
• Ensure a consistent voice and tone across Thumbtack product content, marketing channels, and customer support.
• Develop content frameworks and product narratives to explain recommendations and educate partners on content design practices.
• Independently identify opportunities for impactful A/B copy tests and participate in user interviews.
• Understand the relationship between business goals and user needs.

What You'll Bring

• 2+ years of experience working on 0-1 teams.
• 4+ years of professional writing experience.
• 3+ years of experience in UX writing or content design.
• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate successfully with design and product partners.
• Ability to articulate your rationale clearly.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple work streams, and meet tight deadlines.
• Portfolio of writing samples highlighting product content design and generative AI experiences.
