Summary:
The Trevor Project’s Advocacy team seeks to provide high impact programs to help prevent LGBTQ youth from entering crisis and advance The Trevor Project’s mission to end suicide among LGBTQ young people. This includes life-saving advocacy and policy work in a variety of key issues facing LGBTQ youth across the United States such as ending conversion therapy, increasing LGBTQ competency among crisis services support systems, advocating for welcoming spaces, protecting youth safety online while ensuring LGBTQ youth access to virtual community and resources, and fighting against state-level bills targeting transgender and nonbinary youth.
The Advocacy Associate will be responsible for supporting the Advocacy team and helping to establish Trevor as a key player in state advocacy. This position will be responsible for providing operational support by developing efficient procedures that streamline all operations for the team, creating and distributing Trevor-branded materials/research/talking points, expanding partnerships through relationship building, data collection, tracking legislation, assisting with facilitation of grassroots mobilization, and day-to-day responsibility for other tasks as assigned. Further, this individual will help coordinate the Advocacy Intern program, and help manage operational necessities for the department, including record keeping and coordinating scheduling and logistics for a high-paced, multifaceted, and remote team.
