How you will make an impact?

As a Senior Program Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to lead a strategic product development program vital to our clinical diagnostics business. Your core responsibility will be to oversee all facets of multiple projects within this program, ensuring strict alignment with Thermo Fisher Scientific's strategic goals and customer requirements. A crucial aspect of this role involves leading and guiding R&D efforts and the cross-functional program team, effectively managing schedules, budgets, and reporting activities for the entire program. This position demands strong leadership within a matrixed environment, disciplined execution, and clear, effective communication with internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex engineering programs from the initial concept phase through to successful commercialization.
  • Take ownership of program budgets, financial forecasts, and resource plans, ensuring disciplined financial and capacity management. Drive timely decision-making to maintain schedule and cost commitments.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive program strategy, objectives, and plans that are in alignment with the product roadmap and broader business goals.
  • Lead and influence diverse cross-functional teams within a matrixed organizational structure. Provide essential leadership and direction to project managers and multi-functional team members operating within the program.
  • Monitor and provide regular reports on program progress, delivering timely updates to senior leadership.
  • Manage and engage a wide array of collaborators, including external partners and valued customers. Cultivate strong relationships with all stakeholders to foster seamless collaboration and robust support.
  • Allocate and manage resources effectively to ensure all projects within the program are equipped with the necessary tools, personnel, and support. Ensure strict adherence to Thermo Fisher Scientific's development processes, design control requirements, and quality system standards.
  • Proactively manage program-level risks, technical trade-offs, and interdependencies, escalating issues as appropriate to ensure timely resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing overall program efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience leading large, cross-functional, multi-project development programs specifically within an engineering environment.
  • Outstanding leadership and proven team-building skills, coupled with the capability to inspire and motivate diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using various project and program management software and tools.
  • Ability to perform effectively and lead with confidence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project or program management certification (e.g., PMP).
  • Experience working within a global organizational structure.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards.
