Overview
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific's Digital Operations team as an Automation Engineer. You will drive the deployment of digital solutions, integrate IoT software, and bridge IT and OT systems for manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify hardware, software, and network architecture for manufacturing goals.
- Partner with global operations to automate production using PTC ThingWorx, Ignition, and QAD Redzone.
- Develop, test, and deploy automated workflows and equipment.
- Coordinate engineering activities for strategic automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Business Lead and IT-OT Automation Leads on process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and solve shopfloor challenges.
- Monitor system performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering. 5+ years of automation engineering experience in manufacturing and IT/OT integration.
Technical Skills
- PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.)
- IoT applications including Ignition, OPC UA, PTC Kepware
- Experience with digital analytical tools, MES, and Industry 4.0
- Knowledge of cloud-based automation platforms and APIs preferred
Other Information
Standard work schedule (Mon-Fri) in an office environment. Travel requirement: 25%.
