As a Third Officer on board Disney Cruise Line you assist the First Officer on Navigation Bridge Watch and the Chief Officer Safety with maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Assist on the Navigation Bridge Watch.
- Oversee the corrections and update of all publications in the Radio Station and radio signals publications on the Bridge.
- Test the GMDSS communication equipment and properly log results in the Radio Logbook and the preventive maintenance system.
- Verify the safety management system updates for applicable deck department items.
- Oversee flags inventory and requisition.
- Assist the Chief Officer Safety with day-to-day operation and maintenance of LSA and FFE as well as other projects assigned by the Chief Officer or the Staff Captain.
- Maintain and upkeep of ship’s certificates and documents under Staff Captain’s guidance.
- Provide professional and social guidance to subordinates by exemplary personal behavior.
- Carry out Emergency Duties as specified in the ship Assembly Plan and sending out distress signals under the Master’s orders.
- Uphold the general safety management responsibilities in areas and operations under your control.
Basic Qualifications
- Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch unlimited license or higher
- Experience as Junior Watch Keeper preferably on medium to large cruise vessels
- Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English
- Enthusiasm about guiding other team members
- Flexibility and a cool head in dynamic, ever-evolving environments

This is a SHIPBOARD role.
You Must
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
Your Responsibilities
- Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
- Complete a pre-employment medical
- Obtain a criminal background check
- Bring approved work shoes
Disney Cruise Line is a drug-free workplace. All new hires are required to undergo drug/alcohol testing within the first week onboard and throughout their contracts. Failure to pass the drug/alcohol testing will result in immediate termination.
