Product Engineering

Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

Your Role as a Software Engineer - Frontend

Disney's Developer Productivity team is seeking a Software Engineer - Frontend with a passion for writing full-featured, developer-facing tools and frameworks using modern technologies across a variety of languages. You will help us facilitate development within our parent team (as well as the organization at large) by building batteries-included frameworks that allow devs to quickly begin writing product code without worrying about configuration. You will also take the services developed by other teams and package them in ways that make them intuitive and accessible for developers all across Disney Streaming.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools and frameworks that empowers other engineers all across the organization
• Partner with the UX design team to transform mock-ups into components, pages, and applications
• Join forces with other DPE teams to provide a more user-friendly experience for their services and data
• Collaborate with Product Managers to help scope features, identify technical implementation, and ensure we're building the right tools in the right way

Basic Qualifications

• Proficiency in Web technologies, including Javascript/TypeScripts, React, HTML, and CSS
• Strong passion for building stable, well-tested applications and packages in a collaborative environment
• 3 years developing large, well-tested applications
• Excellent debugging skills
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Enthusiasm for new technologies, languages, frameworks, and platforms
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GraphQL
• Experience working with Agile methodologies
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and/or Terraform
• Experience with other popular languages (Node, Go, Java, Scala, Python)
• Experience with internal tools
