The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities, with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Bookkeeper to perform various accounting functions in support of the Finance office.

Responsibilities

The Bookkeeper will perform duties relating to the rag program, gratuity program, store database, budgets, payroll, and insurances. Other duties include completing credit applications, providing copies of tax-exempt forms to vendors, maintaining food stamp records, and following up on outstanding accounts receivables. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for adjusting journals, accounts receivable/payable, office deposits, petty cash, bank reconciliation, data backup, and month-end reports. The Bookkeeper is also responsible for the supervision of the Payroll Clerk and/or Accounting Clerk. This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing beneficiaries with an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision, as directed by their Supervisor.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred) and 3-4 years of experience in finance. They must be self-motivated and able to work independently. The job requires strong computer skills and knowledge of accounting functions.
