Christmas Kettle Coordinator Role Overview

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is a long-standing tradition that builds strong communities by giving hope to those in need. The Christmas Kettle Coordinator is a short-term contract role responsible for overseeing several Christmas Kettle locations in a designated geographical zone including shopping malls, grocery stores, and retail outlets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
  • Manage delivery and security of kettles and donations at designated locations.
  • Supervise, support, and assign duties to staff and volunteers.
  • Monitor daily operations, collect donations, and report issues.
  • Maintain records including timesheets and mileage reports.
  • Facilitate recruitment, orientation, and performance management of kettle workers.
  • Coordinate logistics of kettle transportation and ensure necessary supplies.
  • Adhere to financial controls and secure handling of cash and donations.

Working Conditions

This temporary position requires 40 hours per week and may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and split shifts with flexibility in scheduling. The role involves working in malls/stores, standing for long periods, exposure to cold weather, and local travel. Proper identification and adherence to safety policies are required.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High school completion preferred; some coursework acceptable.
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver’s License with a personal vehicle and valid driver abstract.
  • At least one year of related experience or customer service background.
  • Experience in office administration and proficiency in Word and Excel.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 12 kgs (25 lbs).
  • Ability to work accurately under fast-paced conditions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality and work in line with health and safety regulations.

Compensation

The target hourly wage range is $17.60 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77. Salary placement is based on market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications.
