The Role: Founding Engineer - LLM / AI
As the first senior engineer, you will work directly with the founders to build a cutting-edge AI product in the financial modeling space. This is a deep LLM role covering end-to-end responsibilities, from architecture to production, not merely prompt engineering.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and building LLM-driven product features from scratch.
- Working on retrieval, reasoning, evaluation, and production-grade deployment.
- Building systems that handle real-world ambiguity and edge cases.
- Shipping fast, iterating constantly, and improving performance over time.
- Partnering directly with founders on product and technical direction.
What They're Looking For
- Deep, genuine understanding of LLMs (not surface-level).
- Strong engineering fundamentals, with proven production experience.
- A track record of tenure (explicitly avoiding short stints).
- Someone who operates at the bleeding edge, without needing hand-holding.
- A builder mindset: speed, clarity, ownership, taste.
- MUST have experience working in a startup as a founder or early-stage employee.
Ideal Background
- Senior ML / LLM Engineer in a product company.
- Tech Founder or early-stage engineer.
- LLM systems engineer (RAG, agents, evaluation, inference optimisation).
- Strong backend + ML hybrid with serious deployment experience.
- Research-to-production profile (must be able to ship).
