Overview
The New York Times seeks a Web Engineer, T Brand, to build advertising templates and interactive single-page applications for high-volume content websites. This remote position supports independent journalism and high-quality digital experiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain responsive advertising templates using HTML, CSS (SCSS), and JavaScript.
- Build modular, scalable templates for advertising initiatives.
- Create best-in-class, frontend-focused single-page applications.
- Implement interactive features ensuring cross-browser compatibility and accessibility.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers, backend developers, and stakeholders.
- Write clean, documented, and reusable code following best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and debug technical issues.
- Continuously improve development processes and tools.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: 1+ years of professional experience in building modern, user-facing web designs, with proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, modern JavaScript (ES6+), and TypeScript. Experience with SCSS, responsive design principles, mobile-first development, and GIT version control is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as Astro, Svelte, or React, and experience with Google Ad Manager concepts and collaboration with non-technical partners.
