Manager, Data and Insights, Growth Analytics

About The Role, Mission Or Department Overview

As part of the Data and Insights Group (DIG), you will join a vibrant community of data analysts. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and PMO teams across the business, informing the data and insights strategy for the Customer Care team as an individual contributor. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct and quantifiable impact on our subscribers' business. You will report to the Executive Director, Growth Analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Define strategy within your team's problem space and oversee the definition and execution of solutions.
  • Present data-oriented analyses to high-level partners to guide team strategy.
  • Develop best practices for experiment design, including advising on hypothesis generation, sample size, and counter metrics.
  • Deliver test analysis, providing advice on future tests and next steps.
  • Collaborate with product, data science, and tech teams to implement new targeting and insight tools.
  • Lead all phases of analytic work, from problem definition to the representation of results.
  • Produce insights, advocate for them, and drive them into action.
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working with data analytics or data science teams to deliver analysis, or a quantitative degree.
  • Mastery of Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases.
  • Proficiency in Python or R.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Google BigQuery, AWS, or other big data environments.
  • 1+ years of experience with dbt.
  • Comfort with version control (Github, code review).
  • 1+ years of experience with data visualization tools such as Mode, Tableau, or Looker.
  • 1+ years of experience applying statistics to strategic problems.
  • 1+ years of experience in data modeling.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base pay range for this role is between $124,000 - $135,000 USD. Depending on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts (F.S.A.s), a company-matching 401(k) plan, paid vacation, paid sick days, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and professional development programs. For roles outside the U.S., benefits information will be provided during the interview process.
