About The Director of Finance and Compliance Role
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global conservation organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. In this pivotal role within the Marketing and Communications division, the Director of Finance and Compliance leads finance and compliance operations with responsibility for a $50M+ budget and a team of 330+ employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish a vision and deliver targeted recommendations.
- Develop complex processes and manage strategic financial plans.
- Oversee compliance with financial, legal, and ethical standards.
- Manage general accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Lead the team through recruitment, development, and performance management.
- Negotiate complex agreements and ensure vendor compliance and insurance coverage.
- Minimize legal risks by enforcing compliance with laws and policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of financial and operational experience.
- Proven senior-level management in finance and compliance functions.
- Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and multi-project management.
- Ability to handle confidential information.

Compensation & Location
This role offers competitive compensation based on local labor market standards. For U.S. applicants, the annual base salary is generally between $118,000 and $177,000. The position is remote and may involve occasional travel for business meetings, team retreats, and training.
