Enterprise Network Engineer
The Johns Hopkins University is seeking an Enterprise Network Engineer to support the high-speed connectivity needs of the Enterprise Research Network (Hornet). The role collaborates with researchers and various IT personnel, ensuring robust network designs, installations, and performance monitoring across multiple campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead network projects from inception to completion.
- Design, install, and configure large scale wired and wireless networks.
- Collaborate with peers and mentor junior staff on engineering solutions.
- Implement and verify network connectivity for advanced services.
- Travel between Bayview, Homewood & East Baltimore campuses as needed.
Technical & Project Scope
The role involves engineering complex data and voice systems, overseeing extensive projects, configuring Internet Service Provider links and optical/DWDM solutions, and troubleshooting advanced routing/switching protocols using technologies like BGP, OSPF, MLAG, MPLS, and more.
On-Call & Collaboration
This position requires on-call responsiveness and active participation in design meetings, fostering effective communication with stakeholders including researchers, IT staff, and university personnel.
