Job Description

DC HR Generalist

The Home Depot is seeking a DC HR Generalist to execute HR plans and programs, ensuring the most effective utilization of human resources within an assigned location. This role involves interpreting company HR policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. The DC HR Generalist may perform duties across various HR functional areas including EEO/AAP, Staffing, Compensation/Benefits, Training, Organizational Development, and Employee Relations, and may also be involved in project work as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • 30% Resolve general Associate Relations issues: This includes conducting employee relations investigations and fact-finding. The Generalist will administer the company's corrective action process in partnership with the DC HR Manager and assist with unemployment claim information and hearings.
  • 10% Identify breaches of culture/values: Identify issues that impact the work environment and provide interpretation and guidance on corporate policy.
  • 10% Assist in communication and enrollment of employee benefits programs.
  • 10% Analyze HR reports: Identify opportunities/trends and propose action plans.
  • 15% Assist line management with HRIS program-related training and transaction support.
  • 15% Support training initiatives and assist the HRM in delivering training.
  • 10% Assist in the selection of leadership positions.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports

Typically reports to a Human Resources Manager. No direct responsibility for supervising others.

Travel Requirements

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in responding to third-party litigation and unemployment claims.
  • Experience in administering compensation programs.
  • Experience in administering a company's corrective action process.
  • Experience in delivering formal classroom training.

Minimum Education

The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
