Electrical Designer Engineer
The HIDI Group is seeking a motivated Electrical Designer / Engineer to join our growing, employee-owned, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. The Role
As an Electrical Designer / Engineer (Project Lead), you will lead small to mid-sized projects, contribute to the design and delivery of electrical building systems, coordinate project activities, support technical delivery, and mentor junior team members. This role offers opportunities for continuous growth in technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
What You’ll Be Doing
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead small to mid-sized projects, managing scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Coordinate project activities and ensure timelines and milestones are met.
- Identify and communicate scheduling or resourcing challenges early.
- Support project planning, including budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
Design & Technical Execution
- Participate in the design and development of electrical systems.
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and HIDI design practices.
- Contribute to calculations, system layouts, and equipment selection.
- Review and coordinate work across multidisciplinary teams.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support client communication, including presenting designs and technical solutions.
- Assist in preparing proposals and fee letters.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Assign, coordinate, and review work of junior team members.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in building services design.
- Strong technical foundation in electrical systems design.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit; Bluebeam and other engineering tools are an asset.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.
