Manager IT Cloud Engineering
At The Hartford, we are proud to be an insurance company determined to make a difference. Join our team to help shape the future by leading our Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platform. This role combines hands-on engineering with team leadership and strategic oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering and delivery of cloud-native IDP solutions using AWS and third-party platforms.
- Manage a team of engineers and collaborate with data scientists, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Oversee development and optimization of automated workflows for document ingestion, classification, extraction, and validation.
- Drive performance tuning, cost optimization, and infrastructure resilience.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and fault-tolerant mechanisms to ensure platform reliability.
- Own technical documentation including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and runbooks.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to the platform roadmap and strategic planning.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 7+ years in cloud engineering with 2+ years in leadership.
- Expertise in AWS (Lambda, S3, Step Functions, ECS, IAM).
- Strong programming in .NET and Python for scalable backend services.
- Experience with OCR, NLP, machine learning, containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems and implement resilient cloud architectures.
- AWS certifications and experience with GenAI-powered IDP platforms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience with .NET 8, Power Automate, Tableau, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
Work Arrangement & Compensation
This role follows a Hybrid work schedule with in-office presence 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) at one of the following locations: Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC. The annualized base pay range is $136,800 - $205,200, with additional rewards such as bonuses and long-term incentives.
