About The Role: Database Administrator

The Database Administrator at The Duracell Company is essential for the design and management of critical database technologies supporting key systems. This role encompasses ensuring overall database health, reliability, availability, recoverability, and security through effective tools and processes. It's a highly technical position requiring extensive knowledge of various database technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for database architecture and system upgrades.
• Offer database design and support for application and infrastructure projects.
• Lead technically to ensure successful project management and timely delivery of enhancements throughout the development lifecycle.
• Manage and maintain databases to meet availability and performance standards.
• Plan for future system growth and recommend necessary improvements.
• Ensure all Database systems are properly monitored with configured alerting.
• Provide on-call support to restore production systems to operational states.
• Perform diagnosis and troubleshooting to resolve technical problems.
• Execute expansion, relocation, and consolidation of Database systems across all corporate locations.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive systems documentation.
• Respond to P1/P2 issues, troubleshooting and resolving DBA-related outages and problems.
• Maintain system backups/restores utilizing Veeam and Azure Backups.
• Maintain and test Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plans.
• Provide root cause analysis for outages and deliver Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Undertake other related duties and projects as business needs require, directed by management.

Qualifications

• Excellent Database management skills, specifically in SQL DBA.
• Proficiency in SQL Server installation and Server Hardening Strategy.
• Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups, Replication, and Log Shipping.
• Expertise in Backup & Restore Strategy and Database Partitioning.
• Experience with SQL Failover Cluster and Database Migration in SQL Server.
• Ability to perform Database Migration from on-premises SQL to Azure.
• Knowledge of Oracle, MongoDB, Progress, and MySQL is a significant plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Good organization, time management, and prioritization abilities.
• Efficient troubleshooting capabilities.
• Effective communication skills, encompassing speaking, writing, and active listening.
• Availability for 24/7 support.
