Database Administrator

The Database Administrator is responsible for the design and management of database technologies for key systems within Duracell. They are responsible for overall database health, while managing tools and processes to ensure the overall reliability, availability, recoverability, and security of company databases.

This is a highly technical role that requires a working knowledge of a variety of Database technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic direction for the database architecture and systems, including upgrades.
• Provides database design and support for application and infrastructure projects.
• Provides technical leadership to ensure successful management of projects throughout the development life cycle and timely delivery of enhancements.
• Manages and maintains the databases to ensure availability and performance standards are met.
• Plans for future growth of systems and recommends improvements.
• Ensures all Database systems are properly monitored, and necessary alerting is properly configured.
• Provides on call support required to bring production systems to operational states.
• Diagnosis and troubleshooting activities to resolve technical problems that occur.
• Performs expansion, relocation, and consolidation of Database systems for all corporate locations.
• Develops and maintains detailed systems documentation.
• Responds to P1/P2 issues to help troubleshoot and resolve DBA related outages and problems.
• Maintains system backups/restores using Veeam and Azure Backups.
• Maintains/Tests Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plan.
• Provides root cause analysis for outages and delivers SOPs.
• Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at the direction of management.

Qualifications

• Excellent Database management skills in SQL DBA.
• Installation of SQL Server.
• Server Hardening Strategy.
• Good Knowledge in ALWAYS ON.
• Good Knowledge in REPLICATION.
• Good Knowledge in LOGSHIPPING.
• Backup & Restore Strategy.
• DATABASE Partitioning.
• SQL Failover Cluster.
• Database Migration in SQL Server.
• Database Migration on premises SQL to Azure.
• Knowledge of Oracle, MongoDB, Progress, MySQL is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Good organization, time management, and prioritization.
• Efficient troubleshooting abilities.
• Effective communication skills, including speaking, writing, and active listening.
• Open for 24/7 support.
