Overview
The D. E. Shaw Group seeks a pragmatic, engineering-oriented AI Technical Product Manager to join its DESCOvery team’s venture studio. In this role, you will help transform business needs into working prototypes, internal tools, and lightweight products, delivering immediate impact.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
You will:
- Partner with internal leads to translate business pain points into technical solutions.
- Prototype solutions using OpenAI APIs, LangChain, Llama Index, vector DBs, and orchestration frameworks.
- Develop user-friendly front-ends to demonstrate product viability.
- Collaborate with engineers and vendors to evolve prototypes into robust MVPs.
- Work across internal tools, process automation, and workflow enhancements for DESCOvery and portfolio companies.
Who We’re Looking For
A bachelor’s degree or higher with 3-6 years of relevant experience. Candidates should have at least two years product development experience with development teams and experience in building workflow products. A strong intuition for applying LLMs and modern AI tools, a track record of delivering working solutions with minimal oversight, and a background in startups, internal tools, or R&D are highly desirable.
Compensation & Benefits
The expected annual base salary is between $185,000 and $230,000. Compensation includes a guaranteed year-end bonus in the first year and additional benefits such as medical coverage, 401(k) matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
