Security Officer – Church Headquarters
We provide professional physical security coverage and response for Church properties. Respond to disruptive or threatening incidents at Church Headquarters that require the ability to deescalate tense situations. Protect employees, visitors, and guests to ensure a safe and peaceful environment in which the mission of the Church may be accomplished. Top candidates will be asked to complete a new-hire screening which includes a panel interview, timed physical fitness test, and use of force scenario test. Finalists must successfully pass a background check and suitability assessment. All together this constitutes a 16-week hiring process. If selected, employment with Church Security would begin July 27, 2026. Continued employment is contingent on successful completion of a six-week basic training course, which includes defensive tactics, OC spray, baton, firearms, and written tests.
Yearly salary range is $59,300 to $69,700. For the upper end of this range, candidates must have significant education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform general security checks of buildings and grounds through active patrolling.
- Respond to emergency medical and other potentially hazardous situations.
- Complete proper documentation and reporting of incidents.
- Screen and assist Church employees, volunteers, and guests, as needed.
- Support events at Church Headquarters.
- Attend regular training to increase knowledge and abilities.
Qualifications
- Current endowed member with a Full Use Temple Recommend and record of faithful Church service.
- Eligible for a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit.
- Must be willing to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Associates Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Conscientious sense of duty and unquestionable integrity.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Operate within moderate to high personal risk in threatening and hostile conditions.
- Ability and willingness to accept legal and reputational risk.
- Must be capable of the following: Physical activity for this job includes visual acuity, hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, manipulation, field stripping, cleaning, and reassembly of firearms and associated magazines. Some sedentary work and heavy work required.
- The employee will be subject to activities that occur both indoors and outdoors including outside environmental conditions, cold, heat, narrow aisles, passageways, and moving vehicles.
