About The Role
The Athletic is looking for a versatile reporter to join its Data and Visuals team. As a Graphics Data Reporter, your tasks will vary day-to-day from publishing articles and charts about sports analytics, trade values, salary cap and more; to collaborating on data analysis with colleagues; to developing and publishing a range of interactive visuals.
Responsibilities
- Conceive creative and distinct story ideas
- Collaborate with Visuals desk and broader newsroom
- Produce content in written, chart, and interactive formats
- Analyze data using various tools
- Maintain high editorial standards
Requirements
- Experience in explanatory journalism across various subjects
- Proven ability to use data, technology and visuals
- Background in news organizations and creative reporting
- Strong collaboration and organization skills
- Technical skills in Excel, R, Python, Adobe Illustrator, Figma preferred
- Experience with interactive frameworks like Svelte is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
The annual base salary range is $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 USD. Benefits include competitive medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; savings accounts for wellness and childcare; 401k with employer match; paid time off; and parental leave.
