Position Overview

The Senior DevOps Specialist at Thales in Ottawa, Canada, is responsible for automating, configuring, and managing both Windows and Linux server environments. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, ensure consistency, security, and efficiency across various environments, and support multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Ansible playbooks and roles.
  • Create reusable modular playbooks for dev, test, and production.
  • Implement Ansible best practices and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot server configuration and document workflows.
  • Provide guidance on Ansible-based automation and lead technical decisions.

Regulatory & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must have or be able to obtain a NATO Secret level security clearance and meet Controlled Goods requirements under Canadian Export Control List, ITAR, and EAR.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or related college diploma.
  • At least 5 years in a Senior DevOps Engineering role.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in Windows and Linux server administration.
  • Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell and Bash.
  • Hands-on experience with CICD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
  • Deep knowledge of Ansible and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with version control systems and container orchestration.
