Medical Laboratory Scientist - Microbiology PRN

Position Highlights

  • Location: 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. Fort Worth, TX 76104
  • Shift: 1st shift, 6:30am-3:00pm with variable days including weekends and holidays

Requirements

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or related field. Internship in an approved Medical Technician training program and 2 years’ experience in a medical laboratory are preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: MLS (ASCP) Medical Lab Scientist or MT (ASCP) Medical Technologist required within 6 months of hire, or M(ASCP) – Microbiology if in Microbiology.

Skills: Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, time management, organizational skills, and computer literacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specimen Integrity: Evaluate, solve issues in specimen collection, processing and maintain quality.
  • Laboratory Operations: Facilitate workflow, manage supplies, troubleshoot tests, and support colleagues.
  • Professional Accountability: Participate in training, competency assessments, education sessions, and uphold a professional appearance and punctuality.
  • Test Procedures: Follow established protocols, evaluate, document, and communicate test results effectively.
  • Quality Control & Documentation: Adhere to quality control guidelines, document maintenance, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Safety: Incorporate safety/infection control, follow HIPAA and laboratory policies, and participate in safety drills.
