The Transportation Engineer II - III (Bridge Design) at Texas Department of Transportation performs complex transportation engineering work in planning, project development and design, construction, and maintenance. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex engineering design work including layouts, plans, and specifications.
- Review shop drawings and detailed designs for bridges and related structures.
- Train engineering staff and assist Project Managers with scheduling complex projects.
- Conduct structural analysis and coordinate review of Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E).
- Prepare and review engineering documents, correspondence, and reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with 5 years (for Engineer II) to 6 years (for Engineer III) of relevant experience. Valid driver’s license and Professional Engineer license are required, with specific certifications if applicable.
Competencies & Skills
- Understanding of governmental laws and engineering standards.
- Experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, and geotechnical design principles.
- Knowledge of computerized structural analysis techniques and design drafting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Physical & Working Conditions
This role involves both indoor and outdoor work including exposure to inclement weather. Physical requirements include wearing protective gear, occasional lifting, climbing, and repetitive motions.
