About the Role: Head of AI R&D

As Head of AI R&D, you will lead cross-functional teams in developing advanced AI systems, including multimodal large language models and video foundation models for both cloud and edge environments. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will shape Tether's AI strategy from research breakthroughs to production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor interdisciplinary teams of researchers, engineers, and data scientists.
  • Innovate on model architectures, training methodologies, and optimization techniques.
  • Scale the R&D team by recruiting top talent and fostering collaboration.
  • Oversee scalable training pipelines including data curation and distributed computing strategies.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transition prototypes into production systems.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resources aligning with business objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years leading AI R&D teams with production-grade model delivery experience.
  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI or related field.
  • Deep expertise in multimodal LLMs, video models and scalable training techniques.
  • Proficiency in frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX and programming in Python.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Publications in top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML).
  • Experience with real-world deployments in datacenter and edge environments.
  • Familiarity with ethical AI, bias mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with distributed systems such as Kubernetes and Ray.
