Job Description

Are you the go-to process/design engineer when projects get complex? As a Sr. Process Design & Project Engineer in Phoenix, you will set engineering standards across multiple production plants by owning capital projects from concept through startup, mentoring a small team, and turning novel chemistries into safe, scalable operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Set and enforce engineering standards, procedures, and design practices.
  • Drive new project and chemistry development with R&D, including lab work and simulations.
  • Lead scope development, cost estimates, and manage projects from FEP/FEL/FEED to handoff.
  • Create and review P&IDs, spec sheets, equipment drawings, and process flow diagrams.
  • Participate in HAZOPs and MOC/What-If reviews ensuring HSE compliance.
  • Troubleshoot process upsets and equipment failures while recommending optimizations.
  • Mentor engineers and provide guidance on DCS instrumentation and startup leadership.
  • Build internal tools and monthly KPI reporting supporting plant budgeting.

What You’ll Bring

  • BS in Chemical Engineering.
  • 10+ years in chemical manufacturing, with a focus on sulfur chemistry.
  • Proven record in implementing non-standard process solutions and reverse-engineering equipment.
  • Strong independence, prioritization, and excellent cross-functional communication skills.
  • Experience in leading HAZOP/MOC and startup best practices with a safety-first mindset.
  • Leadership experience with ability to influence across Operations, HSE, and Project Services.

Role Details

Location: Phoenix, Corporate (Technical Services, Operations)

Travel: Approximately 30% to plant sites and project locations.
