Tesla is seeking a Polymer Materials Engineer Thermoplastics to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. This role merges polymer science with cutting-edge product development by focusing on thermoplastic materials and melt flow simulations.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a subject matter expert for thermoplastics and melt flow simulations.
- Lead material selection and validation with cross-functional design and manufacturing teams.
- Perform and interpret melt flow simulations to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain material standards across Tesla’s operations.
- Lead development projects focused on advancing materials innovation.
What You'll Bring
- A degree in Polymer Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of R&D experience with thermoplastics.
- 5+ years experience using melt flow simulation software (e.g., Moldflow).
- Deep understanding of polymer science, processing, and plastics product design.
- Proficiency with analytical tools like FTIR, DSC, rheometry, and DMA.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Experience in technical writing and developing material standards is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
