Overview

Tesla is seeking a Polymer Materials Engineer Thermoplastics to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. This role merges polymer science with cutting-edge product development by focusing on thermoplastic materials and melt flow simulations.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for thermoplastics and melt flow simulations.
  • Lead material selection and validation with cross-functional design and manufacturing teams.
  • Perform and interpret melt flow simulations to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain material standards across Tesla’s operations.
  • Lead development projects focused on advancing materials innovation.

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in Polymer Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of R&D experience with thermoplastics.
  • 5+ years experience using melt flow simulation software (e.g., Moldflow).
  • Deep understanding of polymer science, processing, and plastics product design.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools like FTIR, DSC, rheometry, and DMA.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience in technical writing and developing material standards is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
