About Tesla Energy Network Applications Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Applications Engineer to join the Tesla Energy Applications Engineering team. As a subject matter expert in industrial networking for battery energy storage systems, you will be responsible for the development, testing, and validation of networking features in Megapack and other Tesla Energy projects.

What You'll Do

  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to write technical product requirements.
  • Establish clear requirements and development plans across cross-functional teams.
  • Create and update technical documentation for customers and internal teams.
  • Provide technical support and respond to escalations during sales and deployment.
  • Manage reliability via failure mode analysis, network modeling, and risk management strategies.

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field with 3+ years networking experience.
  • Experience in industrial or energy systems networking.
  • Hands-on expertise with switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Familiarity with network software development, virtualization platforms, and programming languages like Python, C, C++, Rust, or Go.
  • Deep understanding of network architecture, OSI model, TCP/IP protocols, and network redundancy/time sync protocols.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, MQTT, and OPC UA is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected Compensation

$133,440 - $292,800 annual salary, with variations based on experience, location, and market factors.
