Overview
Tesla's Electronics Test and Automation Group (ETAG) is focused on ensuring top quality in vehicle, silicon, and robotics electronics. The Design Validation Engineer contributes to test automation, software framework architecture, and hardware, software, and data infrastructure improvements.
Role Summary
This role is about board-level failure analysis, identifying and resolving issues in low-voltage PCBA systems such as body controllers and car computers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate issues at suppliers and factories, thus improving product reliability and durability.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design, quality, supplier, and contract manufacturing teams.
- Conduct detailed board-level failure analysis and debugging.
- Implement corrective actions and preventive measures in production and design.
- Participate in design reviews and share lessons learned.
- Optimize products and processes to enhance performance and cost-efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Preferably 2+ years experience in Failure Analysis, Quality, or Service.
- Hands-on experience with PCBA-level troubleshooting and debugging.
- Knowledge of statistical methods and proficiency in programming (Python, Minitab, JMP).
- Experience with embedded systems such as ARM or FPGAs is a plus.
