Data Center Electrician at Tesla

Tesla is seeking an experienced Data Center Electrician to join our Facilities team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical equipment within critical data center environments. You will work closely with Data Center Operations and Engineering teams to ensure the reliable operation of all data center infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment for critical data center infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Data Center Operations and Engineers to ensure effective communication and project execution.
  • Perform general maintenance, preventive maintenance (PM), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and emergency maintenance.
  • Execute PM tasks on equipment like VFDs, switchgear, and motors (120-480V and 4160-25kV).
  • Troubleshoot motors, VFDs, and complex electrical circuits to maintain uptime.
  • Adhere to NFPA 70E and LOTO practices for safe operations.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as an Industrial or Commercial Electrician.
  • Data center or critical infrastructure maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, electrical meters, and testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of conductor and conduit sizing, and NEC Code Book application in data centers.
  • Experience with electrical systems from 24VDC to 25kV AC, including motor controls and drives.
  • Ability to install electrical equipment, perform circuit modifications, and interpret electrical prints/schematics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Essential Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods (up to 12 hours).
