About the Cafe Team Leader Role at Tesco

We’re looking for a Cafe Team Leader to join one of Tesco's Cafés, offering a friendly, fast-paced environment. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for excellent customer service, a proactive 'can-do' attitude, and strong collaboration skills, essential for smooth everyday operations. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience across a wide range of responsibilities.

Key duties include supporting the Manager in meeting business and financial goals, coaching, developing, and training team members, and consistently demonstrating impeccable customer service. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain operational and safety standards for smooth cafe operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Lead by example, consistently providing an excellent customer experience.
  • Manage cafe opening and closing procedures, overseeing full operations in the Manager’s absence.
  • Recognize and celebrate team members for their outstanding service contributions.
  • Master the menu and train the team to do the same, ensuring product knowledge.
  • Optimize staff placement to boost sales and enhance efficiency.
  • Deliver essential Health & Safety and Food Safety training to team members.
  • Support the Cafe Manager with ongoing colleague coaching and development.
  • Proactively seek and implement improvements to customer service.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where colleagues feel respected, valued, and safe.

What You'll Need

  • A solid background in hospitality, with demonstrable Team or Shift Leader experience.
  • A genuine passion for providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Safety protocols.
  • Effective communication skills for clear and constructive interactions.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Confidence in using your initiative to identify and implement improved ways of working.
