Role Overview

The Associate Director Commercial Insights & Forecasting will lead the development of product forecasts, competitive intelligence, and market insight gathering, integrating diverse data sources including epidemiology and market research to drive strategic recommendations. This role plays a critical part in launch planning and ongoing corporate strategy as one of the first commercial team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders like Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Senior Leadership to align on business objectives.
  • Manage external vendors for qualitative and quantitative research ensuring rigorous methodology and timely results.
  • Develop leadership-level deliverables translating complex data into clear business strategies.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing forums with senior leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Monitor competitive intelligence and market events to inform product positioning and lifecycle planning.
  • Integrate primary and secondary research to validate market sizing and growth drivers.
  • Leverage advanced analytics and AI tools to drive data-driven decisions across global markets.
  • Support post-marketing and lifecycle planning efforts including PMR strategy.

Associate Director Level Responsibilities

  • Lead market research, forecasting, and competitive intelligence functions.
  • Build and maintain patient-based forecasting models across indications and geographies.
  • Translate forecast outputs into clear business scenarios for leadership, board, and investors.
  • Integrate insights from claims/Rx analytics, epidemiology, and market research.
  • Collaborate with Data Science & Reporting to feed analyses into forecast assumptions.
  • Manage and track functional budgets.

Experience & Requirements

Candidates should possess an advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS, PhD) in life sciences, health economics or related field and have 7+ years of experience in forecasting, competitive intelligence, or commercial insights in pharma/biotech. Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex topics for non-technical audiences are essential. Experience in a start-up or lean environment is a plus.

Associate Director Specific Requirements

Hands-on experience in building and validating patient-based forecasts; strong familiarity with secondary data sources (claims/Rx, epidemiology datasets) and proven leadership in strategic decision-making.
